Michael Vick Sentenced to 23 Months in Prison

Former Atlanta Falcons QB and NFL star Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison on Monday for his role in a dog fighting ring. The sentence was just slightly less than the total amount of prison time Michael Vick faced.

According to the guidelines of the sentencing, Vick must serve at least 85% of his sentence, or 18 months. Seeing that he has already served 1 month of this 23 month sentence, Michael Vick could be out of prison by mid May of 2009.

Many will speculate whether Michael Vick could have avoided this prison term if he had not lied to federal prosecutors about his role in the dog fighting ring. At the very least, his sentence would have been signficantly reduced.

Has a professional athlete ever fell so far in such little time?

Michael Vick, once of the NFL's brightest stars, will now spend close to the next 2 years in a federal prison.
